About Alla Davies
Consultant Psychologist and Expert Witness. In private psychological practice since 2006. Delivering expert witness medico-legal reports since 2018.
Professional Background
Alla began her professional practice in 2006 with training in neuro-linguistic programming and clinical hypnotherapy, qualifying in Dubai and gaining USA certification. Between 2006 and 2010 she worked in Dubai in private clinical practice, seeing patients six days a week across hypnotherapy and psychotherapy — over 10,000 patients seen in that period alone. She returned to the UK and continued in private practice, formally adding clinical and academic psychology to an already established career when she completed a Master of Science in Psychology from Coventry University on a British Psychological Society accredited curriculum in 2015.
Following her MSc, Alla gained applied psychological experience across five schools in Surrey and Hampshire working with children with special educational needs, before moving into expert witness and medico-legal work, which began in 2018 and has been the core of her practice since. She has designed and published an iOS mental health app to support patients during the onset of anxiety, and trains students through online seminars and courses in psychology and therapeutic practice.
Since 2018 she has completed 475 expert witness instructions — 415 full medico-legal reports and 59 fitness for interview letters — for solicitors across England and Wales. She has assessed clients in immigration and asylum cases, Upper Tribunal appeals, Home Office proceedings, modern slavery and human trafficking cases, domestic abuse cases, PTSD and trauma-related cases, fitness for interview matters, and criminal cases. Assessments have been conducted in HM Prisons and Immigration Removal Centres as well as by secure video link, reflecting the full range of settings in which expert witness work arises. Her reports have been accepted by the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal Immigration and Asylum Chamber and used in Home Office proceedings.
Alla is a serial entrepreneur with a background spanning advertising, marketing, online education, iOS app development and e-commerce. She has appeared on TV and radio on multiple occasions and in major newspapers, magazines and TimeOut. She has presented to UK Government agencies on mental health topics and has been a keynote speaker at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Services, UAE University, on three occasions.

Regulatory Status
Alla has been in private clinical practice since 2006, holds an MSc in Psychology from a British Psychological Society approved curriculum, and is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society. Her reports are prepared in accordance with expert witness obligations, include a full statement of compliance and statement of truth, and have been accepted by the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal Immigration and Asylum Chamber and used in Home Office proceedings.
Alla practises as a Consultant Psychologist. Other titles, such as Forensic Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, and Clinical Psychologist, are restricted to doctoral-level training, and regulated as such by the HCPC as distinct categories of regulated practice. Alla does not claim them and has no need to — her practice, qualifications, and track record stand on their own terms.
Home Office guidance is clear that what matters in psychological evidence is the clinician’s qualifications, training and experience, and whether the opinion is prepared using recognised standards and a clear framework. Alla’s reports are built precisely to that standard — qualifications, training, experience and professional registrations fully documented, methodology recognised, consistent and clearly articulated throughout. The question of HCPC registration is therefore answered not by a regulatory label, but by the quality and acceptance of the work itself. That work has been accepted by the First-tier Tribunal, the Upper Tribunal Immigration and Asylum Chamber, and in Home Office proceedings.
Where the Home Office has raised the question of regulatory status, Alla has addressed it directly, effectively, and without it affecting the outcome. Solicitors who wish to discuss this before instructing are welcome to do so.
